Food Support at UCOM
Striving to provide healthier options for our clients
Since the 1960's when a group of parishioners at Smith Memorial Church formed the ministry that would eventually become UCOM, providing food support for our neighbors has been one of our foremost goals. When UCOM was officially established in 1985 it consisted of two programs: Homework House and the Food Pantry. Over the years UCOM has expanded it's food support programs to include distribution of senior commodities boxes, operation of a monthly mobile food truck, and participation in Spectrum Health's NOW program. In 2003 UCOM decided to become a Client Choice pantry offering those using the pantry a much greater degree of flexibility and freedom.
At UCOM we are committed to providing a great variety of healthy food for all of those in need in Southwest Kent County.
