Compact Florescent Light Bulb Distribution
UCOM recently partnered with the West Michigan Environmental Action Council to help people in our community become more energy efficient. As a result of this partnership UCOM was able to distribute 3000 compact florescent light bulbs to our clients.
Families who paid their own electric bills were given three brand new CFLs to replace older bulbs. Clients were also given literature explaining the benefits of CFLs over traditional incandescent bulbs. Through this program, UCOM was able to help 1000 families update their lights and save a little energy and money.
UCOM is a recycling site for used CFLs. Because compact florescent light bulbs contain a small amount of mercury, it is important to dispose of them properly.
